Nikola Tesla a true Modern Marvel

Last night I watched the History Channel Modern Marvels episode on Nikola Tesla. I never learned about him growing up and it wasn't until college that I heard anything about him. Even then I still had no idea about how brilliant of a man he was. We take for granted the genius he brought into this world providing us with AC electricity, the electric motor, and even the idea of phosphorescent light bulbs that emit light through gasses rather than Incandescent bulbs which produce light through heat. Nikola Tesla was considered a madman in his time for his ideas were far to advanced for that era. The later years of his life took a dark turn as some would say with his ideas. Projects like his "Teleforce" weapon or the "Death Ray" as called by many made people think he was crazy. He was known to have OCD and did things in threes as many people with OCD do. He was also very green in his ideas, as he wanted to harness the natural power of the earth to provide electricity for the world. He fathered the ideas of capturing geothermal energy by drilling deep into the earth to create power from heat. He was a great man for his ideas and inventions and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode of Modern Marvels on the history channel about Nikola Tesla. I only hope that more scientists follow in his footsteps. On another note, Edison was a prick...screw his crappy light bulbs and inefficient DC power.

Submitted by cypress on Sat, 2009-10-31 09:13Happy Halloween everyone! I hope that most people are taking the right precautions this year mingling in social events. Large groups of people are the number one attribute to spreading sickness. With all the talk this year about various types of flu viruses spreading around (and the fact that H1N1 is considered a pandemic), everyone should take extra precaution when hanging out at halloween parties. I know when I'm in an altered state of mind I'm not always thinking responsibly, like making sure I wash my hands before I pick up those yummy cookies my drunk mind just
Should you get the seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccination?

I read a few articles today that pointed out different spices that are good for preventing cancer.
From a BBC article: "An extract found in the bright yellow curry spice turmeric can kill off cancer cells, scientists have shown."

Another Reason to Hate Vista
Submitted by cypress on Wed, 2009-08-26 19:41Man I hate Vista, OMG DO I EVER HATE IT. Who wants an operating system that when you do a driver update (or should I say when Windows does a driver update automatically), it blue screens the PC to death after reboot. I anticipate the arrival of Windows 7 and I hope that it fixes all the issues Vista comes prepackaged with.
This past issue was from a page_fault_in_nonpaged_area blue screen error.
